Katharine Polk of Houghton has done it again: timeless silhouettes, rich fabrics and that easy-breezy West Coast feeling seeping through precise tailoring and adding an extra touch. For F/W 2014 Houghton paired each outfit with customized, fur and glitter embellished Birkenstocks, which looked fresh and effortless in contrast to subdued fall palette and heavy texture. The most important details of the show included dresses with elephant ear sleeves, long skirts with slits, wide-legged pants and coats with lots of movement in the back. In fact, with so much extra yardage every outfit was made to be admired both from front and back. Luxurious wool coats were a special treat – yards of flowing fabric just plainly took my breath away. And psst… For all of you Houghton admirers out there, we hear that Saks Fifth Avenue is going to carry the line. Stay tuned.
