As designers and fashionistas on the street alike have proven, fur is absolutely everywhere right now and Korean designer Son Jung Wan did an incredible job of embracing the look of the season. Wan’s countless gorgeous furs were paired with ethereal dresses for a dreamy runway presentation at the Lincoln Center on Saturday. Pastels, cremes, and beige were offset with pieces in brilliantly rich hues of plum, teal, and moss. Furs found their place as exaggerated sleeves, luxurious jackets, stoles, and collars. Sequins and jeweled embellishments added a sparkly kick to a few looks, including two I really loved - a shimmering, long fur coat and a stunning little gold romper.
I was really taken with the beautiful tailoring of Wan’s ensembles; there was a lot of structured draping that created stunning, floaty silhouettes. My favorite element of the collection, however, were the skilled pairings of some really unexpected fabrics and shapes. One fur-lined hooded men’s puffer jacket was updated with edgy leather sleeves, and a layered short-sleeved fur was given with a surprising bright pink feathered edge. Son Jung Wan brought together elements that made for a stunning, super-luxe collection.
