For three years Fashion Palette has been promoting Australian design talent in New York. This year the collections of three talented designers were introduced for Fall/Winter 2014: two evening wear makers, Philippa Galasso and Steven Khalil, and one contemporary hosiery brand, Tightology.
Already an established company in Australia, Thightology, offers its environmentally conscious leg wear with attention to quality and detail. Tights and socks with jacquard squares, harlequins, chevrons and stripes in an assortment of fall colors were presented on the runway with great aplomb. The collection was imaginative, wearable and fun.
From cocktail dresses to gowns, every garment in Philippa Galasso’s fall collection was either adorned with delicate embroideries or teased with feathers – but never to extreme. The craftsmanship was so intricate, it seemed as if these elaborate embellishments were painted on the models’ bodies.
Equally stunning collection from Steven Khalil consisted of evening wear numbers in black, navy and gold, and concluded with a fitted wedding dress that hugged every curve. Recognized at home as one of the leading bridal and evening wear designers, Khalil designs for women that appreciate couture artistry and femininity.
