The high ceilings, dazzling chandeliers, and stained-glass windows of the High Line Hotel provided a dramatic backdrop for the New York collection of GS Shop Global. Korean home shopping network GS Home Shopping collaborated with five of the country’s top designers to bring exclusive ready-to-wear collections worldwide. Despite it being the Spring/Summer fashion season, the Korean powerhouses debuted decidedly Fall/Winter looks with a barrage of coats, jackets, and dresses in cold-weather styles. The five collections featured were Son Jung Wan’s “SJ Wani,” Lee Jae Hwan’s “Robo,” “Alice and Blue” by Joo Hyo Soon, Hong Hye Jin’s “The Studio C,” and “D on the Label” by Seokwon Andy Kim and Wonjeong Debbie Yoon.
Leather and fur was prevalent throughout in beautiful tailored jackets and dramatic fur colors. Bass-heavy tunes, like Major Lazer’s “Set It Off,” blasted through the speakers as models strutted down the runway. Colors varied between collections in everything from bright orange dresses to shiny gold pants, with emphasis on dark schemes of black, white, and grey. Street-saavy puffer jackets were juxtaposed with sequined jumpsuits and playful dresses, multiple layers being a key concept throughout the show. Slicked back hair and “no makeup” makeup played up the wearability of the various collections, each one presenting something different for everyone.
