The darkened basement of Asher Levine’s basement studio was transformed into a cozy-cool party space for the launch of the designer’s latest - the Grenade Bag. Created in both black and yellow, the neoprene Grenade Bag is enabled with the same tracking technology Levine introduced in his 2013 fall/winter collection. These tech-friendly design elements add a new level of functionality to an already unique product, making Levine’s bag a serious wow piece for the forward-thinking guy (or girl!).

Guests helped themselves to buffet-style wine out of ceramic teacups as they milled about amongst models and fashion “exhibits,” which included fossil and DNA models of Levine’s designs. The vibe was science-lab-meets-museum-exhibit-meets-club (last season’s show was funeral-themed, so we’re always expecting something good), with brightly lit x-ray images of bags looking perfectly at home beneath made-up male models in yellow zippered jumpsuits. Levine is well known in pop culture circles for his futuristic custom designs, like the haunting Beyoncé mask he recently created for the superstar’s “Mine” video featuring Drake. With the launch of his first luxury bag, Levine is set to prove that he clearly has a lot more to bring to the table than just celeb-commissioned creations and men’s ready-to-wear.
