Guests packed the studio at the Lincoln Center as Mathieu Mirano debuted a dramatic, high-shine Spring/Summer collection for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The 22-year-old designer has garnered world-wide attention since the release of his first eponymous collection in 2012, outfitting stars such as Lady Gaga and Nicole Richie. His latest collection showcased the evolution of the young artist’s design prowess, with a stunning array of beautifully tailored looks. Models stood atop two adjacent stages for the early morning presentation, outfitted in garments of black, white, gold, and silver, with pops of rich red. Luxe fabrics took sleek, form-fitting shapes in slim pants, bustier tops, and pencil skirts of silk, crepe, and leather. Crisp, white futuristic looks with shiny silver “python” material were paired with nude pointy-toe pumps. Models opposite were dressed in all black, with the python texture continued in a leather vest and skirt, as well as a black leather harness layered over a transparent python mesh.
Bright red accents appeared in a dress and luxurious dark red fur, as well as on fresh rose petal detailing. The incredible flower petal detailing was attached to sheer netting over nude cups and a gilded gold feather skirt for a delicate, intricately detailed garment. Rita Marmor for Oribe slicked back hair into tight ponytails, and natural makeup by Benjamin Puckey for MAC kept the vamped-up collection from being over-the-top. Streamlined gold jewelry by Mirano accented various looks, perfectly accentuating another sexy, sophisticated collection by the native New Yorker.
