Imagine a brooding Parisian boy, raised by his American grandfather on a steady diet of croissants and John Wayne. This boy would spend his weekends writing poetry and biking along the Seine, chain smoking and daydreaming of Wyoming. Meanwhile, his wardrobe would become the blueprint for Argentinian designer Lucio Castro’s Fall/Winter menswear collection. Sad Parisian boy might be made up, but his rugged sophistication is perfectly embodied by Castro’s latest vision. Sleek city tailoring and comfy grandpa knits meet buffalo plaid flannels and cowboy hats, somehow merging totally different worlds into one cohesive collection. Castro’s line offers plenty of variety in a nonchalant kind of way, presenting the kind of casual cool that fights the trying-too-hard-ness that seems all too abundant in the fashion world.
