Global platform Fashion Palette held a Spring 2014 runway show at Chelsea Pier’s sprawling Studio 59, featuring collections from seven Australian designers. Samantha Wills, Akira, Nicola Finetti, Aurelio Costarella, Philippa Galasso, Steven Khalil and Mossee all sent out a dizzying array of looks that proved there’s something seriously fashionable in the water down under. Each collection featured a distinct aesthetic, with Costarella, Finetti, and Khalil’s designs holding up as definite standouts.

The show ended with Steven Khalil’s incredible collection of dresses, full of intricately designed gowns worthy of any Met Ball. Detailed beading and dramatic ruffles met floral prints and lace in form-fitting, floor-length garments. Volume and long trains accented several wedding-esque white gowns alongside dresses in black, red, and navy. The collection was a clear crowd favorite, soliciting a well-deserved round of whoops and cheers amidst the loud applause after his final look left the runway.
