Finding the perfect silhouettes to complement the female form requires a specific technique. For designer Brandon Sun, he understands exactly what the contemporary woman desires. Gathering inspiration from the ideologies of Cubist artists, Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg, Sun’s SS15 collection is an exploration of deconstructed, shapes and color. The bold variety of color, line and placement defines Brandon Sun’s observation for sensuality and effortlessness, stating that, “women love to wear pleats, but they want it to flatter the body with out feeling bulky”, thus the designer created sharply tailored midi length dresses accented with pleated detailing to combine form and flow together.
A few more interesting aspects of the collection was Sun’s use of print, deconstructing flowers to develop what resembles splatters of paint on a canvas, to the offset placement of stripe prints which created a fascinating contrast, and the soft light weight furs that were tailored to perfection. The designer’s goal is to create pieces that are not only beautiful on the outside but also very well tailored on inside of each garment. Brandon Sun’s detailed craftsmanship is the definition of a designer who’s conscious of his customer needs, developing luxurious pieces that are timeless and effortless. One of my favorite collections for this season and I truly look forward to future collections and the success of Brandon Sun.
