UK-born designer Charlotte Ronson presented her much-anticipated Spring/Summer collection for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at the Lincoln Center. Parisian inspired sweetness met geek-chic in bold prints and kittenish silhouettes. Ronson was inspired by “the playful insouciance of a French gamine - think Jean-Luc Goddard’s epic 1960 film “Breathless”.” An array of patterns were mixed and matched, including checks, multiple different florals, and a black-and-white cherry print. Swingy skirts, rompers, and jumpsuits were contrasted with cool leather jackets and cutouts of exposed skin.
Models were outfitted in complete looks from their shoes to accessories, looking as though they had just stepped off the street from a day of shopping on the Champs Elysees. Accessories included chunky, rope-front, patent leather sandals along with clutch bags, totes, faux reader frames, and plastic “bookworm” nameplate necklaces. Rounded hemlines and peter pan collars added an element of interest to demure dresses and crop tops, while exposed zippers and cutouts lent looks a sexy edge. My favorite look was an adorable black-and-white check, ruffled sweetheart romper worn over a knitted blue tee with a black collar - the perfect blend of cute, wearable, and chic. Models wore loose, casual, waves with deep side parts styled by Sexy Hair.
