Alessia Prekop’s fall/winter 2013 collection came from a dark place and was organically created through ideas that came to her in the middle of the night. An assemblage of textiles and a dichotomy of texture, her collection merged futuristic fantasy and feminine accessibility. “In my mind I just see lines” Prekop says of her design process. “The architecture is one of my main features.” This Italian born, London based designer is finding her voice in this industry. She fused together dark and bright, hard and soft through her use of color and fabric choices. She had never used silk cashmere before but other than, she stayed consistent with past collections using leather, satin, lace and velvet. Prekop designs for strong, confident woman. The choice of satin for the bright colored pieces came off a bit tawdry but the silhouettes and craftsmanship made up for it. The styling was spot on and involved heavy lace up boots and strong loafers with little black socks and smoky, metallic eyes. The music was dark, synth ridden, and had a heart thumping base beat. The overall ambiance was ethereal darkness and über cool, strong femininity, which Alessia embodies her self entirely.
